We're here to help you make smarter use of the law. Through articles, columns and online discussions, we offer the information you need.
The idea came about a few years ago while Kevin O'Keefe, the company's founder and President, worked as a trial lawyer in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. He represented everyday folks, a plaintiff's lawyer who saw the frustrations of innocent people who were injured and couldn't pay their bills. They felt helpless in a legal system they didn't understand. Once Kevin got on the Internet he started meeting people every day facing the same problems.
One day, as he sat gazing at the Mississippi, outside his small Midwestern law office, the idea of Prairielaw.com was born. The idea was to level the playing field for all those who need the law. The name comes from the Prairie School of Architecture that Frank Lloyd Wright intended for the everyday person to use in building a home.
Wielding his computer, O'Keefe began helping folks on the Internet one at a time, asking that they spread the word about this new resource, Prairielaw.com. With a lot of heart and hard work the company grew. In the summer of 1999, Prairielaw.com relocated to Seattle to take advantage of this city's high-tech synergy. We also brought along our Midwestern ideals.
Thanks for stopping by. Have a look around, and let us know what you think.
